Police in the Dairy State responded to a 911 call from a 4-year-old boy who wanted his mother to be arrested for eating his ice cream.
Cops in Mount Pleasant, Wisc. were notified last week that a boy wanted to press charges after his mother allegedly stole his favorite treat. Bodycam footage released by police show them arriving at the home of the accused culprit.
“Oh, its the police,” the surprised mother says after answering the door. “They came for real.”
A female officer can then he heard explaining to the woman that when they get a call, they have to come by to “make sure everything’s OK.”
The unidentified mom then turns to her child and demands, “What did you do?”
When police ask the boy if he called the cops, he confirms that he did and offers a simple explanation for why his mother should be jailed: “I didn’t get ice cream,” he says.
Asked for clarity on exactly what triggered the 4-year-old snitch, his mom confesses, “I ate his ice cream.” She then quietly suggests the officers should handcuff her, which they do with her son’s help.
The police then use the incident as a teachable moment to explain to the boy that he should only call 911 in case of an emergency. He agrees to follow that advice and declines to press charges.
“Let’s not take mom to jail next time, OK?” an officer asks the boy.
“OK,” he replies.
In a update on social media, Mount Pleasant Police said they returned to the scene of the crime the following day with a delivery of ice cream.
