Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham’s 1973 album confirmed for re-release

Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham are going back again — to their pre-Fleetwood Mac days — as the exes confirm the remastered re-release of their “elusive” 1973 debut album.

“Buckingham Nicks” will finally be available to the masses on Sept. 19, “with newly remastered sound for CD and digital debut,” according to the description of the YouTube video for “Don’t Let Me Down Again.”

The instrumentals of the track, which dropped Wednesday morning, bears a familiarity to the hits they’d eventually make with Fleetwood Mac, as well as contemporaries like The Allman Brothers Band.

The announcement comes following cryptic social media posts that led fans to speculate the two were working together on a project.

In late July, two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Nicks, 77, and the 75-year-old guitarist shared apparent call-and-response posts on Instagram, each offering a portion of a lyric from the album track “Frozen Love.”

“And if you go forward…” read Nicks’ posts.

“I’ll meet you there,” completed Buckingham’s.

The posts corresponded with a billboard of the album cover that went up on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles — near the Sound City Studios where the album was recorded. The billboard didn’t say much but it did tease the date of Sept. 19.

Though Fleetwood Mac fans were hopeful the re-release might signify a reunion for the surviving members of the band, following Christine McVie’s death in 2022, Nicks ruled that out last summer.

She also told Rolling Stone in an interview last October that she last spoke to Buckingham at McVie’s celebration of life, having “dealt with Lindsey for as long as I could.”

“You could not say that I did not give him more than 300 million chances,” Nicks said of her former bandmate and ex-boyfriend.
