SUBARU has given one of its most popular models a major makeover for 2025 – with the biggest change on the outside.
The much-loved Forester model, which has been a hot favourite since it was first released in 1997, is certainly capable of competing with the very best SUVs out there.

Indeed, SUVs are all the rage at the moment – and Subaru seems acutely aware of this.
WTOP News recently reviewed the upcoming model and noted how the updated Forester looks more like an SUV than ever before; leaving behind the old (and dated) station wagon look.
The outlet’s car guy, Mike Parris, described the car’s styling as “handsomely tough, with a bold grill design and a flash of modern style” – noting the LED lighting and bulging fender flares.
It’s not just about looks either, as the fresh Forester feels tighter and more rigid than before, says Parris.
He added: “It takes bumps well, with less shudder than previous versions.
“There is less noise on the road than before, but it’s not as hushed as some of the big competitors in this class.”
Naturally, the Forester particularly excels on the road when the weather is rainy or snowy thanks to its standard AWD system.
What’s more, while it’s not particularly sporty, it does boast an impressive fuel economy.
Inside, the spacious cabin has been described as “modern and better looking than before” with a great looking two-tone color scheme with copper stitching and accents.
This comes as the Subaru Legacy, their iconic all-wheel-drive sedan, is set to be discontinued after 35 years on sale – as the manufacturer looks to switch its focus to SUVs.
The Legacy first appeared back in 1989 and is Subaru’s longest running model line, existing over six generations.
Originally only meant for the US market, it was Subaru’s first car to be built on American soil and some 1.3 million units have been sold over the years.
But now it’s reportedly being pulled to make way for a new era of EVs and SUVs – with demand for mid-size sedans “diminished.”
Subaru revealed the popular model will be completely gone by next spring.
Elsewhere, gearheads have been blown away as Hyundai unveiled its new “future-proof” windshield that clears ice from glass.
Dubbed Metal-Coated Heated Glass, this 48-volt system could be the future of heated windscreen tech.
The ingenious innovation is said to work three times faster than conventional de-frosting systems currently available.
Using 20 screen layers, one of which is metal-coated, the defrosting and demisting technology heats up using the same 800V architecture that’s used on its all-electric Genesis GV70 and GV60.
So far, testing on the metal-coated glass has been carried out in temperatures as low as 0 degrees Fahrenheit (-18 C), and it has shown a huge reduction in the time spent clearing the windscreen.
According to Top Gear, the test saw the windscreen cleared in under five minutes, compared to the 15 minutes it takes with a conventional 13.5-volt system.
