The chain serves thick, buttery Texas toast alongside meals at their restaurant.

Their Texas toast is hugely popular with customers, and has garnered a reputation for being just as good as any bread from a fine dining eatery.

But going to Cane’s directly to get your regular fix of that bread can be costly.

And if you try to make your own version at home, it can be time-consuming.

Or difficult to know which one of the hundreds of recipes online to choose from.

So Cane’s Texas toast fans have been desperately hunting for a good dupe.

And one money-minded mom has shared how to grab a whole bag of 16 pieces for just $2.

Maura Tipton (@mauracagneytipton) posted a video to TikTok, captioned, ‘Why don’t they tell us these things? 16 pieces for $2!’

In the video she faces the camera and holds up a bag of bread rolls, saying: “You’re telling me this entire time I’ve been going to Cane’s to get that bread?

“And I could have gone to Klosterman bakery and got 16 pieces for $2.”

Maura looks understandably unimpressed towards the end of the video, as she points out how much money she could have saved over the years.

And the shock at the price mark-up was shared by many.

One commenter said: “Yup! Cane’s worker here lol, I see the receipt that the ‘bread guy’ brings, Cane’s pays around $2.41 per LOAF! 2 end pieces & 12 toasts!”

Someone else wrote: “They charge 1.29 for an extra bread piece… EACH.”

While another person sided with Cane’s and said it’s just ‘business, at the end of the day.’

And another person who was ready to run to Klosterman’s for the delicious dupe said: “So, where’s that at? I need me a few packs.”

What is Klosterman’s?

Klosterman’s is a privately-owned bakery, which has existed for the last 130 tears.

They serve customers in the Midwest and across the United States.
