Mercedes driver hit with manslaughter charge after crashing into school bus in Brooklyn, killing passenger

An unlicensed hit-and-run driver killed a young woman riding in his Mercedes-Benz in a chain-reaction crash involving a school bus in Brooklyn Thursday, then tried to flee the scene in a taxi, cops aid.

Tyree Epps, 32, was going south on Van Sinderen Ave. in a 2008 Mercedes-Benz C300 when police say he sped through a stop sign at Blake Ave. in Brownsville just after 1 p.m.

He plowed into the rear driver’s side of a 2019 Blue Bird school bus going East on Blake, sending the bus careening into a nearby  parked box truck, according to police.

Imani Vance, 26, who was sitting in the passenger seat of Epps’ Mercedes, suffered severe head trauma, cops said. Medics took her to Brookdale University Hospital, but she couldn’t be saved.

The 57-year-old woman driving the school bus also suffered injuries and was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.

Police later arrested Epps, who lives in East New York. He is being charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, leaving the scene of a fatal crash and driving without a license.

He was arraigned in Brooklyn Criminal Court Friday and ordered held without bail.
