There are a lot of factors to consider before joining OnlyFans as a content creator, especially one that makes adult content. But one that many overlook, even celebrities, is how their other commitments may be impacted.
John Whaite, a British chef who won the third series of The Great British Bake Off in 2012 and later appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021, is upset because grocery chain Waitrose allegedly “removed his recipes from its website” just weeks after he rejoined OnlyFans. He did have an author page with his own recipes at one point, but now that page redirects to the “Guest Recipes” landing page of the Waitrose site, which features recipes from eight other chefs.
In an Instagram video, Whaite said: “It seems Waitrose have diverted all my recipe links to similar recipes by other people – my work history with them ostensibly expunged.”
He went on: “My catalogue of YouTube videos with them has also disappeared. It’s like I never existed. No one at Waitrose informed me or told me why… I can only guess that it’s because I do OnlyFans. So I’m sorry if you wanted to use one of my recipes and now cannot.”
He explained his hurt as he continued: “Look, I get my OF work doesn’t align with their brand, and I would have accepted that had they treated me with an ounce of human respect. But to wipe out an entire collection of very hard work without any notice or chance to save the recipes first is an insult.”
A spokesperson for the Waitrose chain said: “We regularly review recipes on our site and we are constantly updating and refreshing. We are very grateful for the work John has done for us.”
But that isn’t the only corporate partnership Whaite has lost since rejoining OnlyFans. He had been working with car brand Peugeot, posting about his vehicle on his social media platforms so his many followers could see. But after the company found out he was back on OnlyFans, they requested he stop posting and return the vehicle.
Whaite was unhappy with their decision, saying, “Pettiness is in for 2025. So much for being an inclusive brand.”
A Peugeot spokesperson responded: “We continuously review our collaborator community and, after careful consideration, we recently took the decision not to renew our existing partnership with John Whaite when it reached its agreed conclusion at the end of March.”
Whaite doesn’t have any regrets, though. He is currently running a successful baking business, Ruff Puff Brownies, with his husband Paul Atkins. The duo sell their hand-baked goods in small batches that regularly sell out due to their high demand. Between the demands of that business, running his OnlyFans account, and other public appearances here and there, Whaite is staying busy despite the corporate partnerships that are drying up.
