Eva Longoria ‘escaped’ the ‘dystopian’ U.S. before Trump’s re-election

Eva Longoria was desperate to get out of the U.S. and she did — having “escaped” her “dystopian” homeland even before President-elect Trump was reelected last week.

The “Desperate Housewives” alum, 49, who spoke at the Democratic National Convention in August and campaigned for Vice President Kamala Harris’ bid at the White House, told Marie Claire she has been living between Spain and Mexico for years with husband José Bastón and their son, Santiago, 6.

“I’m privileged,” said the Texas native, who posed for the cover of the magazine’s Age issue. “I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”

Despite living her “whole adult life” in Los Angeles, Longoria said the city “was changing” even pre-COVID, though the pandemic “pushed it over the edge.

“Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to s–t on California — it just feels like like this chapter in my life is done now,” said Longoria.

Trump’s first win, in 2016, left Longoria feeling “untethered” and questioning whether she was “really making a difference.”

“I truly believed in my soul that the best person wins. And then that happened, and I was like, ‘Oh, wait. The best person doesn’t win,’” said Longoria of the ex-“Apprentice” host.

After being charged in four criminal cases last year, Trump added convicted felon to his resume.

“The shocking part is not that he won,” said Longoria. “It’s that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office.”
