Dolly Parton rewrites Jolene to raise awareness while appearing with Walmart CEO to face Helene-ravaged Tennessee

DOLLY Parton has remixed her hit single Jolene to awkwardly raise awareness and provide financial support to victims of Hurricane Helene.

The country music icon, 78, announced she plans to contribute $1 million to the Mountain Ways Foundation, a nonprofit organization helping communities in East Tennessee impacted by the storm.

“Helene, Helene, Helene, you came in here and broke us all apart,” Parton sang to attendees at a Walmart parking lot in Newport, Tennessee, about an hour east of Knoxville.

“Helene, Helene, Helene, Helene. But we’re all here to mend these broken hearts.”

On top of the generous donation, Parton’s other businesses, including Dollywood Parks & Resorts, Dolly Parton’s Stampede, Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show, and the Dollywood Foundation, will contribute an additional $1 million, bringing her total contributions to $2 million.

“We wish that we were all together for another reason, but we all have seen the devastation,” the Jolene singer added.

“I mean, who knew in our little part of the country here where I was born, raised just right down the road, that we would have this kind of devastation.

“And, I look around, and I think, ‘These are my mountains, these are my valleys. These are my people, and this is my home.’

“And I just want all of you to know that, like Eugene [Naughton] was saying, remember when we had the fires, everybody pitched in, tried to do everything that they could, and so I really think that this is a time for me to step up again.

“For all of us to step up and do what we can.”
