Dashcam video shows dump truck careen into NJ home with owner inside

A dump truck slammed into the side of a South Jersey home on Tuesday, as seen in newly released dashcam video, leaving the driver trapped in the collapsed residence for over an hour.

The operator of the dump truck was in the midst of a seizure when he lost control and drove into the Woodbury Heights home, his boss, Charles Zeisloft, told CBS News Philadelphia.

Dashcam footage obtained by multiple outlets shows the dump truck veering into the oncoming lane of traffic and smashing through a utility pole, before running through multiple lawns and then crashing into the home.

Both the driver and the homeowner, who was in the residence at the time of the crash, were transported to a hospital and are said to be in stable condition.

“He kept assuring me that he was OK, that he wasn’t in any kind of pain,” Zeisloft told CBS of the call he received from his driver just after the accident.

The homeowner was in his favorite chair at the time the truck slammed into his house, knocking him through two walls, his brother told CBS.

A next-door neighbor said he could hear the owner screaming for help, so he went into the collapsed house and spoke to him through a hole in the floor to help keep him calm until he could be freed.

While neighbors were also evacuated out of an abundance of caution, no additional injuries were reported.

Zeisloft said he’s stunned more people didn’t get hurt, attributing such a miracle to “the grace of God.”
