Boy shot, critically wounded in South Shore: Fire

A young boy was critically injured Thursday evening in a shooting in the South Shore neighborhood, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

The boy of unknown age was wounded in the 1400 block of East 71st Place around 5:45 p.m., fire officials said.

He was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, fire officials said. Chicago police didn’t immediately have information on the shooting.
