Amazon is selling a fully customizable home that comes constructed in high-strength stainless steel with a wood-like finish for $14,899.
There’s two bedrooms, a kitchen complete with cabinets, and a bathroom.
Water pipes, lighting and wiring are all pre-installed, so once it’s up it’s ready to move into.
The minimalist design includes a glazed entrance door and windows to all rooms, even the bathroom.
The ad claims the tiny house is built to stand up to extreme weather conditions, like wind and earthquakes.
According to the seller on Amazon: “The weather-resistant materials ensure that your home remains durable no matter where you set it up.
“Built with high-quality insulation, this home is designed for year-round living, keeping you comfortable in both hot and cold climates.”
Construction of a tiny home takes a matter of days (or hours if there’s a team of people putting it together.)
Delivery of this particular model takes just a few weeks, according to the ad.
TINY TAKEOVER
Tiny homes are really coming into their own, with more and more Americans turning to them for convenience, as well as affordability.
They cost much less than a traditional home and can be purchased outright without a mortgage.
They’re also generally well insulated so keep utility costs down.
For anybody wanting to live more sustainably they also provide an environmentally friendly option to do so.
Homeowners in need of extra space for visitors or even growing kids could also find a tiny home fits the bill.
There’s currently more than 10,000 tiny homes in the US.
What is a tiny home?
Technically, a tiny home is any house measuring under 400 square feet.
Many tiny homes are built on trailers so they can be towed anywhere, and some are converted from old school buses or vans.
Each state has its own rules about tiny homes, but, generally, they are not subject to the same taxes as regular homes.
However, Alaska, Iowa, Louisiana, North Dakota, New Jersey, New York, Wisconsin, and West Virginia have made tiny homes illegal as permanent dwellings.
The rules surrounding their construction differ between states.
Some states, including California, Florida, Texas and North Carolina, allow them, but not all do.
New York, New Jersey, Louisiana and Iowa are among those places where it’s illegal to build a tiny home.
