Ring camera owners offered $100,000 for ‘proof’ of ghosts and paranormal activity – judges will consider four criteria

RING camera owners can win a massive $100,000 check if they capture a so-called haunting on surveillance footage.

The security camera company is offering life-changing sweepstakes to celebrate Halloween, but not every ghost and ghoul will qualify.

On Tuesday, Ring confirmed the prize and said applicants have until November 1 to capture paranormal activity.

The winning prize can be used for a “not-so-haunted house, ghost-free getaway, or any other earthly expense,” according to the press release.

Applicants don’t have to move into a haunted house to win the prize either.

“Whether you catch a floating orb, an inexplicable shadow, or dress up as a friendly ghost, all ‘supernatural’ sightings are welcome,” the company said in a press release.

According to Ring officials, this challenge should be no problem for users as the cameras are known to capture bizarre moments.

“Every day, we hear from our customers about surprising or unexpected footage captured by their Ring cameras,” said Mimi Swain, chief commercial officer at Ring.

“Now, during Halloween, the business doorbell season of the year, we’re calling on customers to keep an eye out for any ghostly activity.

“If they do capture a ghost on camera, we’re going to help them escape their haunted situation.”

Ring put together a judging team to choose a winner, including Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard and paranormal investigator Katrina Weidman.

“Ring is known to catch all kinds of activity – but I know if I saw a ghost on my Ring camera, I’d want to move out as fast as possible,” Wolfhard said.

“This Halloween season, I’m relying on my Ring camera to alert me of any activity happening in and around my house – even if it’s the spooky or paranormal.”

The panel will judge the submissions based on the ghost’s visibility or clarity, the entry’s uniqueness, entertainment value, and engagement.

The videos must have been recorded between September 24, 2024, at 12 a.m. PST and November 1, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. PST.

Ring noted that once they receive 5,000 entries, they won’t accept more submissions.

Paranormal activity survivors can submit their videos on Ring’s website.

The prize comes after a homeowner lost $73,000 after sparring with her HOA over a Ring camera on her doorbell.

Teywonia Byrd, a resident of Fat City Condos in Charlotte, North Carolina, fought for years to keep a Ring camera on her door, WSOC TV reported.

However, her HOA said it violated her contract and fined her $100 for every day the device was installed.
