Hinsdale couple killed in deadly Friday crash in La Grange

A Hinsdale couple was killed Friday in a multivehicle crash Friday afternoon at 47th Street and Willow Springs Road in La Grange.

La Grange police said seven vehicles were involved in the 1:50 p.m. crash at  that claimed the lives of Brett and Melissa Lane.

The Lanes, longtime residents of Hinsdale, leave behind five children, according to an obituary from Sullivan Funeral Home.

“Brett and Melissa were pillars of their community. Strong, fearless role models that touched the hearts of many,” the obituary stated.

Brett Lane was the chief technological officer for Panduit Corporation in Tinley Park, according to his obituary.

Visitation for the Lanes is from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Sullivan Funeral Home, 60 S. Grant St., Hinsdale. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Isaac Jogues Church, 306 W. Fourth St., Hinsdale.

Five other people were taken to hospitals after the crash. The investigation is ongoing, police said.

Several nearby departments assisted in the care of victims and the Major Case Assistance Team is assisting in the investigation, La Grange police said.
