Boater spots body floating in Connecticut River near Rocky Hill

Police were investigating Sunday after a boater spotted a body floating in the Connecticut River in Rocky Hill.

Ferry Park was closed for a few hours as police investigated the scene, the Rocky Hill Fire Department said in a social media post, then reopened at about 11:30 a.m.

The body was “in the water near the shoreline south of Ferry Park” at 8:53 a.m., Rocky Hill police Lt. Steve Morgan told the Shelton Herald.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was called in to determine how the person died. Fire crews from Portland and Middletown responded in addition to local first responders, the Shelton Herald reported.

Police were still working to identify the person and investigate the death on Sunday afternoon, Morgan said. Authorities asked anyone with information to contact the Rocky Hill Police Department.
