Earhardt sat down with Melania, 54, just a week before her husband, Donald, is to be inaugurated as the 47th president.
The journalist asked Melania to speculate on how she believes her second term as first lady would differ from when she held the role during Trump’s previous term.
Melania admitted that some people had misunderstood her during her term between 2017 and 21.
“I feel people didn’t accept me, maybe. They didn’t understand me – the way maybe they do now,” she said.
“I didn’t have much support.
“Maybe some people see me as a wife of a president, but I’m standing on my own two feet. Independent. I have my own thoughts.
“I have my own yes and no.”
She also revealed that she doesn’t always agree with Trump, but she said any disagreements are OK.
But, she warned that she always shares her thoughts with him.
“Sometimes, he listens. Sometimes he doesn’t, and that’s OK.”
Melania revealed she will spend most of her time in the White House.
She said her first priority is to be a mom, wife, and First Lady.
Earhardt revealed she asked Melania what she would wear for the Inauguration and the inaugural ball, but the incoming first lady didn’t share too many details.
In 2017, Melania stunned in a sky-blue Ralph Lauren cashmere dress.
During her husband’s successful presidential campaign, Melania remained out of the limelight.
But, she did appear at Trump’s rally in Madison Square Garden – which took place just days before Election Day.
She also appeared with the president-elect at a victory party held in Florida.
Trump and Melania both attended Jimmy Carter’s funeral last week at the Capitol in Washington, DC.
MELANIA’S NEW DOC
Melania is set to release a new documentary that will air later this year.
She explained that her book was successful and admitted she was proud of the reaction behind her book.
Her memoir titled Melania was released in October.
Melania explained that her film is a day-to-day snapshot covering the transition to moving into the White House.
During her interview with Earhardt, Melania opened up on the process of moving back into the White House.
She revealed the big difference would be that she knows where she will be going and the rooms.
“I know the process,” Melania added.
She admitted the first time the process was challenging due to information apparently being upheld.
“But, this time I have everything,” she said.
Melania has revealed she’s already packed, picked out the furniture and is ready to move into the White House next week.
“It’s a very different transition, this time, second time around,” she said.
The former first lady also delved into how she has been carving out her team ready to move back into the White House.
She said she still has a few positions to fill when it comes to her team.
But, she warned she doesn’t want to hire too many people.
