I have bought many items on eBay and paid for them in exactly the same manner over the last few years with Vanilla Visa cards, the most recent being a purchase on 7/3, which was duly processed, paid, and shipped. I checked with Vanilla Visa and the card has a sufficient balance to cover the purchase including shipping & taxes.
