Stories from Swiss mountain huts start with the people who stay when everyone else goes home. In this episode of This Is Not A Travel Show, Marco hikes into the Swiss Alps near Andermatt to find out why. Marco loves finding out why people do the things they do. Sometimes, the answers are found high up in the mountains. For the first episode of This Is Not A Travel Show, Marco hikes to the Sidelen Hut in the Swiss Alps to meet Orlando and Silvia Gisler, the couple who call it home for an entire season. Together they talk about life above the tree line, the beauty and challenges of running a mountain hut, and why some places are worth the effort it takes to reach them. Along the way, Marco explains the unwritten rules of hut life, attempts to blend into the mountain landscape, and takes the whole thing perhaps a little too seriously. Because this is not a travel show. It’s a show about Swiss mountain huts. Well… at least for this episode. 📍 This trip took place in the Andermatt region. But this time, instead of taking inspiration from a mountain, we invited him to discover an entire destination. His mission: explore Gstaad, experience its landscapes, traditions and unique way of life and transform everything he discovers into one original mountain painting. From authentic local traditions to unexpected contrasts between simplicity and luxury, every experience becomes part of his creative process. I Turned Gstaad Into a Mountain | Painting Switzerland with Artist Zelfino
Solo travel across Switzerland in search of hidden gems – The Swiss Outdoor Diaries with Sylvia. After years of chasing a goal, I was given what genuinely felt like the dream opportunity to travel across Switzerland completely solo, searching for hidden gems while hiking, bikepacking and filming everything myself. Over the next 10 days I cycled over mountain passes, hiked long days, got lost more times than I'd like to admit, nearly got caught in alpine storms, got electrocuted by a fence (gently) and somehow stumbled across places that completely changed the way I think about success, happiness and travel. This definitely isn't a guide to Switzerland's most famous attractions.
