To starboard, as\u00a0we approach St Peter\u2019s Island, are gentle mountains; to port side, lie golden fields. Straight ahead, the isle looks empty and Crusoe-esque.<\/p>\n<p>On the jetty, Max Frey, a boatman, historian and guide, is waiting for me.
